📢 Samvad Programme on Girls' Empowerment at Shri Ratanlal Kanwarlal Patni Girls College, Kishangarh
In celebration of International Day of the Girl Child, Shri Ratanlal Kanwarlal Patni Girls College, Kishangarh, is hosting a series of events from 7th to 11th October 2024. As part of this initiative, a Samvad Programme was organized on 8th October 2024 in collaboration with Lekhika Manch, Ajmer, under the joint auspices of the Sociology and Education Departments. The primary aim of this event was to promote girls' education, empowerment, and gender sensitivity.
During the event, esteemed speakers shared their insights through a panel discussion and engaged with students’ questions:
Dr. Bharti Prakash, Professor of Zoology at SPC Govt. College, Ajmer, emphasized the role of education in promoting gender equality. She discussed the importance of balancing personal and professional life while advocating for girls' increased participation in education as a means to foster societal change.
Dr. Madhu Khandelwal, founder of Lekhika Manch, Ajmer, elaborated on legal rights for women, particularly focusing on laws related to sexual harassment and the POCSO Act. She also discussed the psychological challenges faced by girls and dispelled myths about women’s empowerment.
National player and social worker Khushbu Rathore stressed the need for greater participation of girls in sports and science. She highlighted how sports can develop leadership skills and the role of technology in advancing girls’ rights.
Dietician Nandita Chauhan, a health and nutrition expert, shared her thoughts on women’s health and nutrition. She discussed how diet plays a vital role in managing chronic conditions like diabetes, thyroid, and PCOS, especially for women.
Renowned author Payal Gupta shared insights on literature, language, and girls' empowerment. She emphasized the transformative power of inspirational stories, poems, and biographies in shaping individuals' lives.
Subhash Agrawal, Director and Secretary of the college, highlighted the importance of making girls aware of their rights and empowering them through education. He encouraged the students to recognize their potential and strive for excellence in every field.
Principal Dr. Shailendra Patni noted that programs like this play a crucial role in fostering confidence and leadership among girls. He emphasized that such events are vital for the empowerment of women.
Dr. Mitesh Juneja, Program Coordinator and In-charge of the Arts Faculty, shared that the goal of the Samvad program is to enhance girls' social and mental well-being, while also promoting the importance of education and sports in their lives.
Dr. Smita Pancholi, Program Coordinator and Head of the Department of Education, stated that these types of programs help amplify the role of girls in society and contribute positively to shaping their futures.
A special exhibition was also organized during the event, where students' artwork was displayed, reflecting themes of women's status in society, their struggles, and their empowerment.
As part of the series of activities, the poster competition held on 7th October 2024 in which Avani Ranka (B.A. B.Ed. Part III) secured the first position, Muskan Bhati (B.A. B.Ed. Part IV) got second, and Apeksha Soni (B.Sc. B.Ed. Part I) received third place.
Additionally, Anchal Ajmera, a student of B.A. Semester I, performed an inspiring dance to a motivational song, while Bhavika Sharma presented a soulful motivational song.
These initiatives play a crucial role in raising awareness of girls' rights and promoting their empowerment.
