"Human Rights Protection: A Vital Discourse in Contemporary Context"
On the occasion of International Human Rights Day, Shri Ratanlal Kanwarlal Patni Girls' College, Kishangarh, organized a thought-provoking program on December 10, 2024. The event aimed to create awareness among students about the significance of human rights and their protection in today's world.
The program commenced with an enlightening address by the Director and Secretary of the college, Mr. Subhash Agrawal, who emphasized the necessity of such events in making students aware of their rights and duties. He highlighted how awareness about human rights empowers individuals to lead a dignified life.
The Principal of the college, Dr. Shailendra Patni, remarked that "human rights are the foundation of all rights, and their dignity and protection are the collective responsibility of society."
Dr. Mitesh Juneja, Arts Faculty Coordinator, inspired students to pledge their commitment to the protection and promotion of human rights. He encouraged students to be vigilant and proactive in ensuring their rights and those of others.
Head of the Education Department, Dr. Smita Pancholi, shared her insights on the interrelationship between rights and duties, emphasizing that understanding this balance is crucial for a harmonious society.
NSS Programme officer Dr. Ruchi Mishra and Dr.Radha Gupta motivated students to take action through a compelling documentary presentation, which showcased real-life examples of human rights violations and their resolutions.Dr.Ruchi Mishra was the Programme Coordinator and co-coordinator, Dr. Jyoti Sharma, shed light on the positive measures that can be taken to address and prevent the infringement of human rights.
Assistant Professor from the History Department, Mr. Suresh Kumar Sharma, provided students with detailed information about the National Human Rights Commission and state-level human rights protection mechanisms.
To further engage students, an extempore speech competition was held, where participants from B.A., B.A. B.Ed., and B.Sc. B.Ed. courses shared their views on various aspects of human rights. The competition concluded with Yogita Rajpurohit, a Semester III student of the Arts Faculty, securing the first position.
The event concluded with the students taking a solemn pledge to uphold and protect human rights, signifying their dedication to this vital cause.
The program saw active participation from faculty members of the Arts Faculty and the Department of Education, reflecting the college's commitment to fostering a culture of awareness and responsibility among students.
The event was skillfully hosted by students Palak Kanwar and Komal Sain, whose dynamic stage presence added vibrancy to the proceedings.
